Sleepaway Camp (1983) takes place at Camp Arawak, where it seems that there is a killer among the campers! This film is chock full of creepy characters, dimwitted adults, laughable fashion, with a shocker of an ender that will blow your mind, yo. (overacting) This movie was funny and gruesome, with some unique ways of being "sent home."
Don't pick on the quiet kid, people.
Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) takes place at Camp Rolling HIlls. Kids telling urban legends/ghost stories around the camp fire. One girl recalls the tale of the killings at Camp Arawat, about 60 miles from there. What happened to the killer? Three guesses. I won't give much more away on this one, except for the fact that it introduces the "Trophy Room," and that one of the most disgusting ways to die occurs. Icky. The Trophy Room is a horror movie staple, one not so present in the first volume of Sleepaway Camp. I love when you come to find out just how long `ol crazy has been, well, `ol crazy.
I liked both of these films for different reasons, but give them about a six out of ten, for camp factor.
